Cryptic stated that hammering the same button over and over every second is a lot of fun.
Plus it takes the focus away from strategy because they noticed that hammering 3 different buttons is way to complex for the focus group.
Autofire was unresponsive. The animation would cycle but not fire; then half a click through the next animation it fired. It also locked the use of other hotkeys and delayed their execution; without actually queuing anything. It was awful. A good implementation of it would be nice; but the one we had in beta was better left off
