Just wondering how long it takes to reboot the servers?

Depends on how many processes it needs to boot and whether you have to start any of them manually. If the whole lot's auto booting, a couple of minutes. If they're not all autoboot (and considering the amount of custom code that's probably in this machine, quite likely not), couple of hours. That's easy.

Finding out what the hell caused your cluster to suicide in the first place and/or removing the smoking/flaming motherboard with tongs... slightly longer.

Honestly though, they are probably on the phone with Blizzard trying to get a handle on how to handle an MMO successfully.
Funny considering WoW had a similar launch, eh?

Or they could be applying a patch...or installing additonal hardware..or any number of things that this game currently needs.

If server stability is their goal, Blizzard's the last people to call, they haven't gotten it right after 5 years.

It takes days. We're just lucky they started some early.

They probably found some bug and said **** it lets just take the game down early and do our mainenance now before we have a bigger problem later.

Not as long as it would take to make a post saying that that is what they are doing, I'd wager.
