they dont need to anticipate. they have sales data and have been selling preorders for months. They knew more or less how many to expect and what their projected retail sales would be. its far more likely their code just cant handle a large scale game
actually, you're right. they knew exactly how large give or take a small quantity and they just failed to adapt. good point.
Uhh...Did you really play Champions at launch?
No complaints about the enormous across the board nerfs to abilities? The exp nerf leaving many people(not I, but still) with several levels of grinding, the absolutely absurd level of rubberbanding.. Did you ever goto Monster Island? Almost two months after launch that hole was still damn near unplayable.
So yeah, I'm more amazed that STO isn't complete garbage.
