First off this is what HAPPENS with a new mmo.
Launch day is 2-2 NOT today or yesterday...
Everytime one of you whine about the server being down I want to scream!
For crying out loud have any of you ever beta tested a game?
Have any of you ever been to a for real launch party?
I've done to many beta tests to count on my hands and toes, been to far too many launch events (gotten to drunk to care at the parties)
This is what happens with a new game a new server holy handbags does anyone that has posted here have a clue of whats involved to just make a server that can handle this large of a game and the network connections that it requires?
A lot of coding and a few tons of hardware plus all of the work hours to install the hareware and the software, then theres getting the hardware to talk over the network with each componet of the server. And thats before they install the game software. The theres all the bugs that have to be fixed (some of these don't get fixed over night) some bugs take months of work to fix.
Thats how it was in world of ******** when it started five plus years ago(heck back then people felt lucky to get five hours of play time a week on the game while the bugs where fixed)
I beta tested Tabula Rasa and we had a ton of server issues when the beta started.
I beta test Hellgate London it had some of the same problems that sto did in beta.
And sad to say it even LOTRO had problems in beta and on launch day.
Each of them games ha problems on launch day like STO is having.
A some of these problems STO is having now you can't test for in closed/open beta becasue theres not enough people in the game to really stress the server.
So get ready to see the server down off and on for the next few weeks as the tech team at cryptic gets the server optimunized for well over the current load come tuesday.
So stop with the QQ whine posts they are making me sick.
