The servers cannot handle the load now.
Frightening prospect actually. Paying for something you cannot use is really not a lot of fun.
I realize it is launch time and things happen, but seriously, do no developers look at the history of game launches, or more importantly, and far easier, look at the number of sales to date and see how much server is needed? It's simple really.
