how is this whole 1 server suposed to work when there starts being 50k ppl playing? would there be times you can't log in its full ect and when you are on every sector will just be a giant collage of ships on screen being able to see nothing but ships lol

it's not 1 server-cluster (like EvE or Fallen Earth) it's a multi-sharded universe where you flip between shards, like DDo or Champions Online.

I think there is already more than 50k people playing at one time already. At launch, there was over a 1000 instances of the Tutorial zones, each with 10+ people playing on them . . . when I got to Earth Starbase, the same was true there. More and more people just kept on joining from that point on and the tutorial zones are still full.

I would imagine that over 200k people are playing STO at this point.

try 100k might be closer

multi shard type servers have a weakness....one crash issue takes the whole game down.
in true multi server games, one crash issue crashes 1 server.

but that is what cryptic went with.

how does this work with fleets or guilds or what ever that are called on here wouldn't some be in deff shards ect then the other ppl ect?

this is what i was afraid of with this whole 1 server thing..... trying to log in and getting a msg that says sorry the servers are currently full youy are in posistion 630 of 630 when you get to 1 you will ne logged in this is just great...
