You can have your cloaked friends near to some suprise attacks. Also Raptors are pretty sturdy beasts.

I'm still only level 8, but I figure the choice should be carefully made depending on not only your play style but also which Officer you are. I chose Engineer so imagine I may provide more benefits to team players being in an a more sturdy, uncloaked ship. Whereas Tactical Officers might want to go BoP for a more tactical battle.

I get the idea that Raptor is escort (can use cannons I think), BoP something like science, cruiser is now missing in T2.

Being cloaked fighters though, fighters, I assume them escorts of the more sturdy Raptor.

Just FYI, the raptor is pretty much the carbon copy of the federation escort at lower tiers. If the sucker is sturdy it is because the captain of that ship knows how to use his Boffs and other skills to be sturdy, not because this ship itself is sturdy. At least, considering the amount in the MES threads about fed escorts being made of tissue paper, I would have assumed that a ship with the same hull and Boff positions would be just as easy to kill.

Confucius, he say:
"Once every 20 seconds the bird-of-prey cloaks. Once in a lifetime, a raptor cloaks."

As a raptor pilot, once you commit to a fight you're committed. Think of yourself as a feddie escort once you perform your initial decloak. The only disengagement possibility for you is evasive+engine batteries (which the feds can do in response to chase you down).

Compared to a BoP, the raptor will maintain a BO advantage, so you'll want to use the advantage (the extra slot or extra rank, depending on tier) to full effect. The approach to flying a raptor will be different than your approach to flying a BoP.
