This works for me at least. When I'm barreling down on a target and about to fly past, I hit full reverse and evasive maneuvers at the same time. For a good 10 seconds I can turn quickly enough to keep the front end of my ship pointed at the weakened shield face of the target and hammer it into scrap metal with an overloaded torpedo.

Anyone tried this? Kills things pretty fast.

I always manipulate the throttle when i want to turn. If i want to do a 180 i throw it in reverse untill im about 45 degrees off of where i want to be, then i start forward again.

Attack pattern alpha is helpful too, for those Tac/Cru. +50% turn rate.

no need for reverse, evasive maneuvers would let you turn on a dime

It's really not worth losing rotate shield frequency. I didn't think I could tank a fleet of several klingon battleships all +3 while flying a Tier 2 cruiser until today.

You don't even need EM. Just slam into reverse; you will vastly improve your ability to turn inside the enemy. Tractor Repulsor also serves the same purpose by opening the distance.
