I had to share.
After getting to five, I made a mistake and picked up a second science officer when I needed an engineer. (For some reason, I pictured my Trill science officer in yellow instead of her standard blues when I hit the button. DOH.) I tooled around with a second for another level or so, then finally bit the button and went shopping for one when I next hit Sol.
My plans were to have the crew be all female, so that was foremost in my mind when I went through the list. Was about to grab a human woman - but then I saw a Klingon on the list.
...oooh. Okay, the all-female crew idea goes out the window when I see him, and he gets snapped up.
And his name outta the box, no changes, is ...."Chuk." Okay, not a GREAT name, but I can live with it.
But then the husband comes over and goes, "Chuk. He's in yellow and black. And your science officer is a red-headed girl. Does this remind you of something?"
Oh sweet saints.
So, we joke about that for a few more missions - and after dinging six, one of my missions ends with an ensign asking to join the crew. No, not a reward for mission complete - this was just outta the blue.
Another Klingon. (The husband wails that this is so unfair, he wants a Klingon too.)
This one is a tactical officer.
Named....Yugi.
Ever see that picture of Picard and Riker doing the double facepalm? That was me as the name popped up on my screen. My husband dissolves in hysterical laughter.
So I've got the head engineer that can't catch a break ever (and he probably did have the most insane pet targ on the planet), a redheaded girl that won't give him the time of day, and another Klingon tactician that probably spends his off hours mastering a children's card game...and the first person who learns of *that* besides his captain will get a batleth in the face.
No wonder my captain has Vulcan meditation as a hobby.
I am now afraid, yet hopeful, of what the randomizer will deliver to this crew next.
