YES! The Lord of the Rings is the only series that is better than Star Trek. <Runs for cover.>
When I plaid the clairanet I could immitate the nazgules perfectly (I wasn't very good at the clairanet).
I read the Hobbit and the three main books, but I didn't really like them. The Battle of Helms Deep was one paragraph long! I hope they make the Hobbit, but judging from the book it would be very long. They would probably cut out all of the good parts.

Hmm... that's true. The Ride of the Rohirrim is pretty epic. I'm always dissapointed that I can't find the theme to that scene (I know it's just the Rohan theme sped up, but I like it best that way and there doesn't seem to be a recording of it)

the movies are IMO the best trillogy ever filmed, the amount of hype im suffering while waiting for The Hobbit is insubmountable.

but i find the films so easy to slip into their world and to become entranced in the plot, i went to New Zealand 2 years ago and went on a guided tour of the locations they shot at, including the parking lot....
i found it hard to focus on the reality of where i was i kept imagining myself to be looking at what was in the films it was truely amazing and id recomend anyone whos a fan of LotR to go on the same trip as me, it was worth ever penny

my favourite piece of music is from the first film, its called Journey in the Dark (Howard Shore) and plays as they walk into the massive hall in moria, its shortly followed by one of my favourite scenes with one of my favourite villians The Balrog!!!!!

edit: someone mentioned that The Hobbit would be a long film, I recently read it will be 2 films not just 1 so they can have a better quality of story line and (make more money)

All that is gold does not glitter;
Not all those who wander are lost;
What is old and strong does not wither;
Deep roots are untouched by the frost.

From the ashes a fire shall be woken;
A light from the shadows shall spring;
Renewed shall be blade that was broken;
The crownless again shall be King.

Uh, yeah, I'd say I'm a pretty big fan, lol.

I enjoyed the movies, as well as the books. For me, the movies held the visual factor....It brought the scenery of Middle-earth to life, so to speak. And, hands down, the best soundtrack for a movie ever. I get a cold chill and tears when I listen to the begining couple of minutes of "Balin's Tomb".

For those that might be interested, there are a couple of fan movies out there that deal with some of the other stories. OK...They actually deal with Aragorn. And don't discount them because they are fan-made...These two films are both award-worthy in my opinon.

The Hunt For Gollum - The story of Aragorn's search for Gollum prior to the events of the Lord of the Rings (the story is mentioned by Gandalf in his conversation with Frodo.)

Born of Hope - The story of Arathorn and Gilraen, the parents of Aragorn.

Enjoy!

I have that song on my i-pod. It's on the Return of the King soundtrack and called "The Ride of the Rohirrim". Wait, are you talking about when Theoden is riding through his troops or when they are going to save Gondor? When Theoden is riding through his troops is "Ride of the Rohirrim". When he is about to save Gondor and is talking to his army is "The Fields of Pelenothor". Both of them are on the Return of the King soundtrack
I have too many favorit parts, but some of them are:

-Frodo when he agrees to take the Ring to Mt. Doom. I love the part where Pippin goes, "So, where are we going?" It makes me laugh every time.
-The lighting of the beakons in the Return of the King. I love that song.
-When Ewoean says "I am no man" to the Nazgul right before she kills him. That part is EPIC!!!!
-And Aragon's speach before the Black Gates

The only complaint I have is that some of the people in Rohan's army wern't very good at riding horses. One of them pulls his reigns when the Roherium are charging on the orkes at Gondor. I ride horses, and pulling the regins makes the horse stop! I laugh every time that person comes on the screne.

*bump*

All the good threads are getting pushed down by the influx of people (and thus new threads). I'd still like to talk about this for a bit, so it's going back on the front page. I just don't want to talk right at this moment because I need to get some sleep. Thus the bump.
