I was looking at my skill tree yesterday. You have the option to put extra skills in a ship that you fly. But i see a problem here. I currently have a T2 escort. So i should put points in the Escort class.

But in T3 you get the (if i remember correctly) The Exploration Escort or Cruiser. So if you put skills in a T2 ship it seems you dont get any boosts as soon as you use your T3 ship.

Or does this scale ? If you have skills in the T2 cruiser class you will also have some boosts in your T3-T4 Cruisers ?

I dont think second option is the case. Then my third question. Can we respec ? or reskill ? Wipe the tree clean again and get the invested skillpoints back. I have not seen the option so far. But when a game is new you will make mistakes in the tree. Do you need to live forever with it ?

I dont know if its true but i heard there was a cap on the skillpoints. So you cant max everything. If you can max everything out this is not a problem. But if there is a cap i wont invest any skill points until i hit T5.

The Three question:
1:Is there a skill point Cap ?
2:Will the lower tier ship skills scale to the higher tiers ?
3:Can you respec/reset your skill and get your skill points back to correct mistakes

I hope someone can tell me the answers to these questions

I currently understand it as T1 and T2 ship captain skills stack with the T3/T4/T5 skills, but those T3/T4/T5 skills are useless if you're not in the specific ship they're for. So any skill points you've put into the T2 escort skill will carry over into any escort you fly.

Respecs are not currently in the game, but they should be coming "soon".

The original skill system was designed capless, but they added a cap to it. Currently you can only earn 60700 skill points. Check out http://sto-builder.binarybit.ch/ for a skill calculator to play with different builds.

You can't skip spending skill points until T5 because you have to spend them in order to unlock higher tiers.

It was never said very soon. What was actually said was sometime after launch. That could mean tomorrow or even later. I would have to lean on the side of later since respecs were only being discussed a couple of weeks ago as Dev said. So they proablly have allot of work to do on them.
