First of all, today is an exciting day! STO is now officially "live."
Cryptic -- you have worked hard to reach this point -- many thanks for the work you have put into this product to date.
To those of you who are reading over these forums and wondering if the game is worth it...my advice is that this game offers more as an MMO than any other science fiction/space combat game on the market today. It has ground missions ("away team"), space combat , fleet actions, cooperative play, solo PvE content, and PvP if that floats your boat. The PvP content is purely voluntary -- no "corpse camping" type scenarios in this game.
Down side? Well....it is a new MMO -- and MMO's tend to be a bit rocky at onset. The benefits of being in early outweigh the inconvienences -- and if you are wondering if the game will still be around in the months to come...I would say "most definitely." The game has legs...in fact, there is so much Star Trek content that in terms of upgrades and expansions, well...the Final Frontier is practically the only limit...and that is no limit at all.
A little advice for ya. Stay off the forums till 8th feb. there are too many wow fanboi's on here trying to destroy the game, because they dont want it to suceed. After 8th, the forums get locked off, and you need a retail key to post.

It's got nothing to do with WoW. Some people just don't manage their expectations correctly and feel what THEY expect should be how the game is i.e. perfect and error free. They are learning the hard way that MMOs seldom are just prior or just after launch.
No doubt the servers will be taken down sometime in the next few weeks, and people will ***** about that too.

No it's got too many Cryptic worshippers to give a good analysis of the game. STO fanbois are mediocre at best. They want mediocrity from a mediocre company.
Is this game worth a monthly stipend? Not in my book. This game needs more work, ALOT more work before it will rise to the level of an enjoyable, immersive Star Trek Universe.
But that's just my opinion. That and 4.32 will buy a gallon of milk at the grocery store.
