I have to say the above comment is total nonsense. And yeah, I play to win (everybody does inherently, only the amount of 'drive' differs), but sometimes you're simply outplayed. If you're a 'gamer', you can appreciate that and learn from it.

what is true is the balance is heavily in favor of klingons on pvp.
yesterday on first tier, i was amazed at the gear the klingon get with their first ship. i have the automated turrent tactical console from preorder and i didnt even bother slotting it seeing the very nice +disruptor damage tactical console there was by default.
the result in battle was very very one sided..i almost always finished first (my klingon name is assimilator) with score exceeding 30-0 most of time.
with mask energy being nerfed to death, even the ball of doom of feds doesnt scare any klingon at all as feds pop out like flies, save the lone lvl 10 fed with green or blue mark2 gear on him (he dies in 20 seconds instead of 10).
I pvped on fed side and barely managed to score 5 -10 kills at best and sure it was a sour and bitter experience as it was way way tougher.
so i understand that feds become less interested or rebuked with pvp, after getting beaten constantly.
at the end it only hurts klingons because without pvp this faction is useless.

The person that cannot stand losing is far to serious about the game, and most likely will try and blame "lag" "h4x" or whatever for their own shortcomings.... I appreciate the fights where I lose a close match much more than if I slaughter a clueless newbie.

The match you lose, is the match you learn the most from.

Losing is the only way to get better. It exposes the flaws you have as both a player and a character. If I am always steamrolling people, then yes I'm 'good' but someone is always 'better'. And those that are 'better' have probably lost alot as well, and learned from their mistakes.

There is no such thing as perfection but that doesn't stop us from trying right?

To be fair, some of us have zone chat off and forget to turn it back on. After having ignored over 15 goldspammers today, I just shut my channel off. Unfortunately it also removes the ability to see local chat, so I assume that since no one else is talking during the entire match, nobody wants to say aything.

The only lesson that can be learned from deaths that occour when the player has 0 control of his character, is to avoid those two situations by not getting in the line of fire. And in a pvp game, there's no point queuing up if youre not going to fight...... unless youre power leveling by losing.

No, but you can learn how to survive while exposed.

This is all getting off topic though, the gist, and one I agree with, is that people should try to be good sports regardless of whether you win or lose, and whether it was fair or not. Its the same reason that after most major sports events both teams go out into the field and shake each other's hands. Its just polite.

My current big issue with PVP is the post-match cheap shot I keep seeing happen in space. I ran into it a few times in Beta/Headstart, but I'm seeing it almost constantly in the games I've been in since launch. What's the deal with people thinking it's fun to cheap shot a guy after the match is over? Is there some actual benefit to making that one last gank or is it just for jollys?
