Sounds like you just want to change it so the cruisers always win not the escort.
I can already see it. Lone Cruisers flying into fleets of Neghvars taking damage, running, repairing, repeat. ...

Got to agree with the problem outlined in this thread topic.

For retail I decided to ditch the cruiser I had picked during beta, and instead went for the science ships, only to find that doing so is the same as opting out of being recognised for doing what it is my class of ship excels in.

I tend to focus on emittors and debuffing the enemy, and generally I am the first ship that engages a large group of enemy ships and then firing off a AoE damage resistance debuff on the tight cluster of enemy ships, followed by tractoring the largest ship there so that the cruisers and escorts can focus all their fire on one shield section without hassle.... and then providing mine deployment and phaser fire + subtargeting.

And by doing so I am actually contributing to lowering my placement on the final reward ladder, by making it that much easier for escorts to come out on top, as well as making it easier for cruisers to try and catch up with the incorrectly rewarded escorts.

Now I know Cryptic haven't shown much interest for such finer details in their games in the past, but unfortunately the standards have progressed in these areas over the years, especially after mythic showed up pre-existing MMOs with their extensive contribution system.

Personally I am not expecting something quite so extensive to be implemented into STO now given the current situation and the work involved in a overhaul, but it would certainly be nice if Cryptic made the effort to at least appear to try and maintain balance in their systems.

I think the simplest solution would also be to have level tiers of who can enter what. That I can enter starbase 24 at level 18 and blow everything away seems unfair to the rest who just want better gear. Not only does the game always reward for highest damage but who has leveled the fastest...

Good point there.

Though at higher levels the damage received from the lower level targets would be significantly lower.

So if damage received was one of afew new factors taken into consideration, than it could address higher levels farming lower level fleet actions simply for market condition exploitation.

Edit: Infact, after a certain level range NPC targets in fleet actions could ignore higher level targets in favour of the lower level targets. I know at face valve is seems potential in the favor of higher level targets, but again this is based on Cryptic actually changing the contributing factors to rewards.

I fly an escort and even I agree with the OP.

There should be factors counting towards your position in the loot distribution table. The problem is, apart from DPS, there really isn't a lot you can accuratly measure.

I'd like to see a system like Warhammer online where your contribution in the battle gives you a bonus to your dice roll for the loot. That way, everyone has a fair chance to win something of value, but the more you contributed, the bigger your chances of winning.

And if you're fighting below your tier, perhaps you should get a serious penalty to your roll.

Eh, that many blues would probaby dent the growing economy...
