Does moderate damage (to? across?) all shield facings with a 5km radius, scaling with aux.
(I hit for about 700 at max aux with poor skills on my Stargazer.)
Disables cloak for 12+ seconds
30s recharge at level 9

Mash a speed boost towards where the Klingons are probably sitting and pop the ability. Watch the gank squad dissolve into panic as the Feds alpha strike unprepared escorts. Chase down fleeing BoPs and make them cry.

What really sold me on this ability was when my mostly-organized Fed team and a seemingly organized Klingon team were locked at about 5/5. We were winning the slugfests because we had good mutual support (I for one had Extend Shields and Engineering Team III) But then they picked me out and did a full on Viral Matrix gank that was horrifyingly imba (ie, I died.) After I respawned they had mostly disengaged except a BoP that cloaked near the planetary rubble field just as I got there. I exited impulse somewhat near its cloak point, maxed aux and the burst revealed 3 Klingons including the wounded BoP. They did not have targets picked out and their fire was scattered and ineffective. Went to 5/9 and they just lost heart. I don't think they even got another kill after that.

I think what you meant to say is "nerf cloak"

Kidding aside that does sound like a useful skill.

I've been saying this is a good BOff power for a while now. Just wait until you get CPB2 as well and have decent skills and equipment to make CPB2 do 1560ish and disable cloak for 23ish sec, while CPB1 does 1200ish and disables cloak for 19 sec. Since they have a shared timer of 20 sec, to prevent instant chaining, that means I can effectively disable cloak for 39 out of every 40 sec, atm. Oh and I still need to upgrade a couple of pieces of equipment that is boosting my related skills.

Did I turn you onto this or did you find it yourself? I thought we were talking about federation tactics and I said "Most of them probably don't even know about cbp..."

maybe you already had it by then.

Here's how good cbp is -- that is what I use from cloak on my suckertank. I uncloak and cpb, taking a big chunk of shields off. Even if they can't cloak, the ae is a kick in the mouth.

my sci guy is hazard emitters / cpb.

I start the fight with my engineer in the lt slot in tier 2 for rsp, then swap in sci guy for cpb until rsp recharges (3 min)

I don't have a problem with the skill...but I think as long as we are limited to these "play date", battles in a bottle, this skill is gonna bone us Klingon.

I feel the current PvP constraints only distorts the natural useage and balance of many of these skill sets.
So many issues will the ability to exploit and spam very strong or effective skills, would find themselves properly balanced in a truely open and expansive PvP war environment. No ques, no claustrophic battles in a bottle, no silly TDM frag-fest death count downs to victory.

Instead, we'd have objectives, we'd have Feds with such effective anti-cloak skills, but the Klingons will have Fed player complacency to exploit. Fed anti-cloak skills would be balanced by player discipline...Klingon cloak balanced by smart utilization and target selection...all balanced by patience by either player.

It'll be through purposful, open PvP war that most issues of PvP will find balance. Fed balls would be just effective, but it can't be everywhere or auto populated to oppose the enemy's numbers if there is no que. The cloak can't be used to "stall" objective based content.

The current PvP design constraints is the biggest contributer to most PvP dysfunction.

You can counter viral matrix by having a few ships with science team standing by to immunize anyone who has a little pink blip zooming towards them.
