I just wanted to leave feedback saying that I love the way exploration missions are now. Plenty of people will probably complain that it is too much scanning of things, but I thoroughly enjoy it. It is a nice break from all the fighting and provides you with shorter missions you can do if you have less playtime.
As for what could improve, a greater variety in the exploration missions would be more than welcome. And adding more variety to the types of fighting missions would allow for more of them to be present without getting bored.
Thanks for all the hard work Cryptic and keep it up!
I definitely approve of the fact that there is less space combat in exploring, but there needs to be the occasional puzzle-element to the missions.
There needs to be a reason to read the mission description.
The very first ground mission where we had to take note of the miners concerns and tell the negotiator was at least a little involving. We need more of that.
It would be nice if there were just two more action choices for the tricorder or investigative actions. This would give players a greater sense of involvement in the story. Its not that there should be a "wrong" action, but something that gives players a choice between different types of information so that they can choose what they want to progress the story.
Choice should have consequence. Not "right" or "wrong" choices, but different choices.

I completely agree - I really would like more involvement.
I love Exploration missions, but their really beginning to wear thin. It feels like I've had small variations on the same half dozen for hours.
"Abandoned base" - this guys in the teleporter buffer are deeaaadd!
"Investigate planet" - those damn alien artifacts powered up, or - alternatively - Klingons are screwing around and ya gotta kill them!
"Investigate ship" - yeeaaahhh, don't hit "ok" until your power has leveled out from impulse, cause there's going to be several attack waves against you.
I've also uncovered multiple conspiracies involving governments weapon testing on their own ships, and I should get a plant named after me for the cocoons I've recovered. And I've warded off those terrible gas blobs that need the belief of children.
While I like the "idea" of the exploration missions...there simply is not a lot of variety in them right now. At one point Cryptic was going to have a totally random mission generator for these missions with a lot more parameters. Unfortunately, the system was full of a lot of bugs and did not survive long. I still would like to see something of this nature in game at some point.
I definitely agree with all points made. The current system has room for improvement (and arguably SHOULD be improved) and I was simply giving back some positive feedback. Reducing the number of "Shoot - Bang" missions is the first step to improving the other types
Agreed. The randomized for these missions need to better. For a while, exploring cluster anomalies, I got scanning (not scanning missions) 4/5 of the time.
I love the game right now and can't wait for more improvements.

Well said. I love the away team missions that involve studying alien devices on exotic planets, or even doing repairs in an abandoned base. They actually did a really good job leveraging the ground gameplay for exploration and scientific research, and those missions feel like they belong in a Star Trek game.
I really hope Cryptic adds more such missions to the DSX (deep space exploration) hopper. They are a delightful surprise, and always make me smile when I get one of those.
We need some proper first contact missions. Easy to do remove probes etc and replace with intelligent lifeforms but you have to find hidden spots to scan them from if you are spotted the mission fails and you have to beam out.
Investigate humonoid races where you beam done in the natives clothing and investigate a city. These could be based on anytime period from say middle ages up until present day.
