Then no matter what, I am pretty sure it would have been like lambs to the slaughter and we would have had to start over with another group of people in another instance.

On a note, this is the first one where I saw tactics being used. My roommate is tanking on purpose with a cruiser in space, and I am also in a cruiser but set for DPS. He actually managed to get the main boss to keep firing at him for quite some time, and just devoted his whole effort to staying alive without really firing much. I saw someone else doing the same on one of the other Carriers, whether on purpose or not I don't know. I ran in and unloaded all I could at the boss until he eventually said "bad, you die now" and then went back to firing on my roommate. Repeat process and complete, with the help of many others of course. People caught on to what was happening, and became an effort to engage, do damage, then try and get out the powerful attack arcs so as not to get destroyed. It worked quite well.

The only bad thing was that when score was assigned, I was fifth on the list (even in my measly cruiser, even with 12 or so escorts playing, ) but my roommate was second from the bottom. He got crap for a loot drop. I switched mine with him because he could use it better. We have been taking turns at the better loot, because I always out damage him but could not do it without him. That's a problem with the games implementation. I think people without groups or friends in the same cases who try to keep others alive or tank, or debuff will not be rewarded and I find that discouraging for down the road. Hopefully that changes!

Otherwise, it was so much fun I am thinking about going back tonight - either that, or racing for the next fleet action. They have been getting better and better!
I would love to participate in something organised like that. I started off with a tactical officer and now I am levelling a science officer as I would like to support, heal etc. However if the loot is going to be so bad if you are not in a group (where loot can be set to round robin, can't it?) I might feel a bit disouraged. Yet so far I am still in my starter ship (haven't been able to play much due to client accidents related to Steam etc) and I have one heal on a long CD, so I still have time to shoot and deal some damage. I am not sure how it will turn out once I get my Science ship.

I went into a PvP battle this morning before maintenance, I asked in chat if anyone wanted a Science Healer in their group and got 0 replies.

It's a little daunting, but I guess that will be fixed once I make more acquaintances. I do enjoy Science, but I am feeling I might need to go Tactical to make a dent in scores.

I think itís a great starting move to have 5 man raids.
They can then develop higher number raids.
But to have 5 man starting raids, at least everybody gets a chances of trying a raid out.
Without having to wait forever to get a group together.

It is not an incredibly large deal at the moment - top few scores seemed to be getting consoles or maybe a green item or something. Lowest few were getting batteries. Also then of course are the loot dropping from ships killed, which seems to go to a person who does a certain percentage of damage to that ship - not always a drop, but if there is that seems to be the theory. It just seems that if you are not committed to damage, Fleet Actions might not be for you. That really is unfortunate. But in the meantime, me and my friends just share among ourselves because one or two of us even or usually up at the top due to buffs and whatnot being put on us. I suggest finding a good group like that, otherwise everyone ends up playing the same thing.

PM me if you want and what hours you play. I just started over again after making a few unwise choices on my previous go around, so I am low level at the moment. But perhaps we could try teaming up and see if you like our style of play.
