Yeah, I had one in Beta too.. never bothered to rename them..
I think naming my ships after Irish Explorers, our two crews would get along famously.

I think it would be better for them to give you the option of sending your XO in place of yourself on missions. Since it is established in Star Trek that the Prime Directive disallows Captains from going on any Away Mission which could be considered dangerous. That's why Chakotay and Riker went down in the Captain's place a lot of the time. Now, granted, in TOS Kirk went down to planets all the time, but I guess we can say that the rule was put in place after that time period, since Picard and all the subsequent Captains adhere to it usually.
But, since it would be boring to never actually play as your own character, it should just be an option, as I said before. I also agree that the First Officer should be an assigned status for one of your BOs, giving them extra stats in some way. The lack of First Officer really gets to me.

I found a trick for that that usually works when they get dain bramage and decide to kiss a wall. Pop your rally point where you happen to be when you notice the idiot daydreaming. Somehow that affects their pathing, and all of a sudden they remember how to use a door without faceplanting into the wall next to it.

Works 8 out of 10 times, and saves you a lot of running back and handholding to get them all in the same room again.

She's the first officer on my escort. I have three lieutenants, but R'shee is the only one in a lieutenant position, so she gets the job.

(I should probably get around to changing her name, because I changed her features quite a bit. I'm not familiar with Andorian naming conventions though.)

pretty sure your first officer is supposed to be w/e bridge officer is in your highest possible rank slot for your ship assignment.

That's how I'm viewing it anyway.

While that may be true, the Executive Officer of a ship doesn't do the job of a departmental officer. If I have a Tactical Officer who operates the Tactical Console, then he's not doing his job as Executive Officer. They're different positions. That's why it should be a separate status for BOs.

Lol true enough. Just going by game mechanics as they currently stand. Not canon.

On the other hand, Spock was both first officer and science officer.

Shouldn't there be an option to assign one of your BO's the responsibility of being a First Officer and gain a benifit for that? Maybe give him that title in that title drop down box at the very least? It just seems odd you are the Captain AND First Officer and everyone else is merely crew.
My main, J. Richard Blackavaar's first officer is his Science officer, a Trill named Winona. She is also his chief medical officer.

My Federation Borg alt, One's first officer is his Borg Engineer. They are indeed kindred spirits. Her name is Gir of Seven.

My Klingon Borg alt, R'khal's first officer is his lifemate Lotor. She is also his Tactical officer and can kill a man with a bat'leth before he can finish an insult.
