The original was so much better, I'm hoping that they revert it to the old mission stats and tell the people who can't do it to learn. It wasn't hard it was fun... hitting space bar on accident on a cloud and not getting your ship torn to shreds because you weren't paying attention just isn't fun anymore.
I agree, I did the new Briar Patch last night and it was boring as heck.
I could understand during Beta people getting blown up so easily, but it's rediculous to think it's nearly got enough hit points of a starship. In hindsight, it was fun having the challenge of the 1 shot ignite.
The low hp gas clouds needs to be brought back, and while you are at it, put more clouds on the fringes. Because all you have to do is stay on the outside, and fire from max range of 9.99 km, and not even be near the gas clouds. (Except when you have to go in the gather anomolies).

It wasn't hard or fun.
All you had to do was fly above or beside it and completely avoid the lame mechanic. Once you figured that out, the mission was cake and still annoying, since long range meant less beam damage and you couldn't full impulse in the cloud.
What they need to do is make the clouds go boom faster again and add enough clouds that you have to play amongst them. That combined with the current damage should create the right situation. Not insta-gib and the clouds are a factor, not easily avoidable.
In fact it was 'Insurrection', not Nemesis or Resurrection.
You're right...Mea culpa. Was sitting at work and just wrote this interrupted by 5 'idiots' who wanted something from me....mh...those 5 looking at me again...cya
Its boring and long I never tried the old way but the way i did it last night was very long.
Not only that but the mission says to use the gas as a weapon but when I ran it there were only a few ships in there the rest were all turrets and none of them were close enough to the gas to be hurt by it. Perhaps i had bad luck .
There has to be a middle-ground between sneeze and it blows up and shoot it 5+ times to get it to blow. Right now the mission is a cake-walk because the real mission threat has been completely neutralized.
Sorry for the thread necro, but I wanted to run this mission before I commented.

IMHO, there can be no happy medium with respect to the gas cloud durability. Weaken them a little, and you have the snoozefest we have now. Weaken them to the point where it makes a difference, and you'll get the same old complaints that got the mission nerfed in the first place.
I'd rather Cryptic bring back the old gas clouds, but reduce the number of disruptor turrets you have to destroy to, say, 5 (and maybe reduce the map size accordingly). After all, if you destroy 2 turrets successfully, chances are you "get it" - too many turrets beyond that gets old fast. As a further concession, maybe remove that cloud that sits right at the opening of the donut asteroid (although I used that to put a hole in the patrolling escort...).
