Ok when i First statred off i never noticed my weapon power going down when i fired my phasers. But now i notice that every time i fire my phasers or any energy weapon my weapon power goes down way down but some times it doesn't go down at all is that a bug or something that was added in one of the recent patches?

Never really noticed it myself. Will have to take a look.

You're talking about the 50/100 meter as opposed to the cooldown timer, right?

That's normal. Did you go up in Rank and get a bigger ship? Your power plant can only power two beam arrays at once without starting to deplete weapon energy levels. So you won't really see this effect at the Lieutenant level, but you may at Lt Commander, depending on what kind of weapons you put in your ship. You can change weapons to reduce power drain (torpedoes and mines don't use power). Alternately you can take skills or abilities which will increase power levels, or you can start putting EPS Engineering consoles in. These will increase your power available temporarily (for example "Emergency Power to Weapons") or increase the rate at which your power levels recover.

what skills would increase my power levels? and does this also count for cannons or just beam arrays?

I don't fly Escort, but my understanding is that it will effect all non-projectile weapons including cannons.

The "Emergency Power to Weapons" skill puts in ~+10 points into weapons for ~30 seconds, and the amount put in increases with the Captain's skill Starship Weapons Maintenance. I haven't played with it since Beta, but in Beta the Auxiliary to Battery skill created a battery which boosted power levels in all four areas. It was kind of a pain to use though, and was on the same 4 minute cooldown as the regular batteries.

AIUI the Commander level skill Starship Weapon Efficiency improves your Weapons power when the power level to it is low. The Admiral skill Starship Weapon Systems Performance improves your Weapons power when the power level is high. I'm at Lt Commander 7 and can't vouch for these.

The main approach most people seem to be taking is loading up on EPS Engineering consoles, or reducing the number of energy weapons used in their ship configuration.

they did recently change how they recharge or some such, may want to look for a large thread with EPS ninja in it's title, that's where it was discovered consoles aren't helping like they used too, and it comes from a change to how weapons power charges now.

here is the thread

Can anyone confirm is putting points in Starship Energy Weapon Efficiency actually adds points to the weapon power leve or if it only improves the skills? if so how many points should be put in it before u see a change
