Wanna know what destroys immersion for me? That cruisers move like hippos in a mud bath. THAT destroys immersion.
Also, based on that, ramming speed is very immersive. My ship is to big and fat to move so I may as well plow through that klingon ship.
Pretty immersive to me, given the current manueverability of some ships.
Also, I completely agree with Digglez. Its so easy to avoid Ramming speed.
I wonder how many of you people against ramming speed are escort players... hmmm.....

By more I mean it should do equal damage to the ship using it. It should be a last ditch risky move. Not a shields up 1shotting a player by running into them. I seriously doubt the devs intended it to be that retarded. Anyone who argues otherwise is obviously someone who uses the ramming speed exploit as a crutch. Which is why it's ironic Digglez is insulting everyone.
So wait... my slow as molassis, big as a planet cruiser should take as much damage as a little cruiser... even though a cruiser is suppose to have a harder hull, more mass, blah blah blah...
Yeah no. That would break my immersion. If anything, Cruisers ramming cruisers should take equivelent damage. Cruisers ramming Escorts... should obliterate them with taking only some structural damage. You're suppose to be paper dps. If you through a rock through a piece of paper what happens? It ends up with a HUGE gaping hole.
It's funny how people who exploit buggy skills insult people who want them fixed, because that would take away their prescious I win button. You don't want people to take your little ego crutch away.
EDIT: I'm flying a fed cruiser right now as my main, so don't even bother with the "oh but i'm a slow cruiser and you're an escort" BS. The difference between me and you, is I don't need a buggy skill as a crutch to play well.
Well if you really want to get technical, pretty much all the Klingon ships would be totally screwed in a ramming, due to the fact our ships all have long skinny necks out front, and a small frontal orb shape up front where the bridge and weapon systems are, like torpedos. Any ramming a klingon ship did with pretty much any ship would be catastrophic to the Klingon ship. But this is just a game, and we need balance correct? Otherwise people scream and whine. I know this first hand, because I call them whiners all the time, and got infrations to prove it, lol.
Well, the other stuff doesn't really jar me out of the game like the drive-by rammings do. I've been victim to them all but this is the only one where the Benny Hill song queues in my head And my Klingon is in T5 now so I have hopefully seen all the dirty tricks by now.
HA, was that me? (Merak)
I just love ramming speed, it's funny. And i love the Benny Hill song. ^^
Now I want to say this first, this post isn't about Ramming Speed being OP or anything. Everyone has access to it so it doesn't really lead to an advantage to one side or the other. I still get a chuckle every time I die to a drive-by ramming.
Been having a lot of fun with ramming speed, both as a giver and a taker o.O but the above statement is incorrect. Klinks have a massive advantage in this as they can use it from stealth and it pretty much guarantees a 1 hit kill on a cruiser in pvp.
I don't play a cruiser but have seen, and laughed I might add, this tactic enough times to know this is a guaranteed kill, and 1 hit pvp kills = fail n any game, in any way, shape or form.
The only usable at under 25% hull sounds like a reasonable solution.
