# 1 Shortcuts to power presets
02-16-2010, 03:21 PM
Is there keyboard shortcuts to power presets? Im constantly moving about, and being a tank, having a single preset on all the time cuts my performance down a lot. So unless i stop using my mouse for camera, i have to stay in the same preset during a fight. Knowing the direction of the most powerful fed, so that my strongest shield faces them is very important.

But if there was a shortcut for all 4 power presets means i could zoom into a fedball on shield preset to keep my shield up as best as possible whilst my dps waste the feds one by one, then switch to weapons preset to help the dps kill the last of the feds, and switch to engine preset to help chase after the fleeing last one.

Not by default. At least not that I'm aware of.

You can create keybindings, though. It's something I've been meaning to get around to, but haven't. (in other words, I haven't tested this)

Information culled from this thread: http://forums.startrekonline.com/showthread.php?t=66110

Basic keybinding is accomplished by typing "/bind <key> <command>" (with optional paramaters and toggles).

The commands associated with the four presets are:

GenButtonClick PowerLevel_Preset_0 for attack
GenButtonClick PowerLevel_Preset_1 for defense
GenButtonClick PowerLevel_Preset_2 for engines
GenButtonClick PowerLevel_Preset_3 for balance

Putting all that together, if you wanted to bind the four presets to, say, Alt+F1, Alt+F2, Alt+F3 and Alt+F4, you could do the following:

/bind Alt + F1 GenButtonClick PowerLevel_Preset_0
/bind Alt + F2 GenButtonClick PowerLevel_Preset_1
/bind Alt + F3 GenButtonClick PowerLevel_Preset_2
/bind Alt + F4 GenButtonClick PowerLevel_Preset_3

Except binding anything to alt+f4 is a 'Bad Idea (tm)'.

I can imagine some binds might allow people to do stuff Cryptic doesn't like.

I leave it to your imagination.
