It seems like a lot of the buff and debuff icons don't always show, most notably the proc effects from different weapons. Some times they will display in your target's target box, but no on you so unless your're targeting some one who's targeting you you might not have the full picture.

Also I think when system's disables using target subsystem it should say that it was disabled as well as drained. And certain effects should maybe have red icons rather then orange (like viral matrix and disabled sub systems) to alert fleet mates of the severity of their situation if they're unaware or unable to communicate tier issue.

This effects both space and ground status updates.
