There are Different types what is the advantage of getting say a rare bo vs common bo?

Rare BO's have rare BO powers, that's it. And you can use them to teach your regular BO's one of those powers instead of hiring the rare BO.

Rare BOs also have "Superior" traits that give them a higher bonus than normal traits do.

Sounds like the system is backwards should not the rare bo be more desirable?
I thought it should be like the old bridge officer could train the new rare one so the officeryou end up with has better stats?.

Wow this system needs work the way it works atm does not seem right the bo stats should get better with more training, hiring and retraining new rare officers would be a waste of time and lost officer points.

I think they need a point system for bo's so you could transfer points to new rare officer.

Why would it be like that?? The difference between the officers is that your old one has more experience, you can't train experience. The new one is fresh out of the Academy, starts at Ensign, and because he/she is naturally a little better at certain things than the generic chob you have right now, they get a little better bonuses. Just be glad that BO skill pts are pooled and not actually set to individual BOs.

You really hate using more than one punctuation mark in a sentence, don't you...?
It's really just a matter of opinion. Seeing as to how the only things that are trainable from the rare BOs are one or two space or ground combat abilities, then it's entirely reasonable to just use the BO to train those one or two abilities and be done with them. The passive talents apply mostly to ground combat and are usually 2-5% difference, meaning you won't notice anything...

No, the point system works fine, you're just looking for an easy way out because playing is game is somehow hard to you...Seeing as to how you can get unlimited amounts of BO skill pts, being able to save and transfer is completely uselss. If you want to use a rare BO over one of your current ones, just do it, points are cheap.

The thing is, that 'Superior' traits (which give a boost for ground combat) can never be purchased, trained, or transferred. Their a intrinsic property of 'Blue' and 'Purple' bridge officers...

Traits vs. Skills: Someone with a High Skill but low Trait can beat someone with High Trait but low Skill, but in the end (since there is no cap on BO training points...) someone with High Traits AND High Skills wins out with better abilities...
