# 1 New Klingon advice...
02-22-2010, 07:42 AM
I created a new Klingon character late last week. I managed to hit LC 3 last night. I wanted to get more information before I commit more time into this character. I apologize in advance if I have missed any posts on the subjects below. The forums search tool is a bit...limited.

I've got a few questions I can't seem to find many answers to:

1). Why isn't there more skill specs listed for Klingon/PvP? I'm working from a couple of links that I hope are good but are from Fed characters. Heck even the online character skill editor is Fed.

2).Ship and equipment load outs (space and ground combat). I've been equipping what I think are good load outs but I'm not sure. Are there any good guides for gear? A nice pro vs. cons list of using items/weapons would be nice.

3). Leveling. Am I doing it right? Are Khales Expanse missions a waste of time as well as boring? Space vs. ground PvP. Which gives more XP?

4). Raptor vs. BoP? Why?

5). Fed ball + mine spam. Is it always going to suck the fun out of every map?

Welcome at the Klingon side. I won't supply you with a specific skillset either, but some advices:

Find out what you like more: ground or space. It is better to concentrate on one of it to save skillpoints for the side you want to play.

The skill-chcracter builder is OK for klingons, only our ship-skills are different (just imagine escort means raptor, science bop and cruiser is cruiser+carrier)

You get a good loadout over the badge-vendors. When you get into a new tier you can also buy things for energy at some vendors or the exchange to bridge the time until you get over badges. Concentrate on one weapon type, depending on which special effect you prefer, you will save skillpoints and will benefit more from your tactical consoles (all can be one type)

They did change the number of exp per pvp match, so I don't know whats the most efficient right now, but as I played a mix of Defense mission, in the 6 mins cooldown a pvp game, defense mission, ... was nice. Don't forget to do the special defense missions you get at lvl10 in each rank (and 3 at admiral), they give a lot of exp but you won't be able to do them anymore when you reached next tier.

If you go for full damage and firepower the raptor is your ship. But most of the players (including me) prefer the BoP because of his versatility and better turnrate. You will lose an ensign skill-slot with a BoP and have 1 less weapon slot than the raptor. But you gain universal BO slots, higher turnrate and battlecloak (which gets really weak in higher tiers. If you don't get far enough away a battlecloak won't save you there)

For the minespam you can desable auto target deployables in the options screen. But yes it will suck until T5 when the FEDs complain about fighter spam (from the carrier) and how unfair it is to not be able to target players quickly. To get rid of a huge minespam you can use scramble sensors (lets all mines detonate on the FEDs themself), or tykens rift or gravity well (simply kills them)
