One thing I noticed about this game is that the core of the enemies you fight are all the same, no matter what race you are fighting.

Dreadnaught
Battleship
Cruiser
Escort
Frigate
Fighter

And it seems to not matter much what race it is, essentially they are the same except maybe for weapons differences.

What I miss about my old MMOG days (UO) was you started fighting lower end things and skilled up to more difficult things. The first time I attacked an Earth Elemental or didnt run from Trolls or Ettins in UO was a milestone for me. No such milestone here. Right off the bat you are fighting (albeit weakened) BORG.

The game should start you off with more tamer fare, to illustrate better how you progress from the game, the variety of things you fight or seek should be more and more difficult.

Is there any reason you cant replace the borg in the early game with say a disorganized pirate group or a local alien terrorist group ?

I think the first time I face off against a Negh'Var I should be scared. There shouldnt be a range of levels on a Negh'Var that we have now. IMO anyway

So what Im saying is that we need better, more varied enemies so that the game doesnt feel as repetitive and more 'realistic' than it does now (realistic in a game sense and not a real-world sense)

I'd agree you have a point here. I assume they did the multiple ship types per level because people would complain if they were always fighting frigates until lt. cmd, then were always fighting escorts, etc.

I shouldn't be able to fight a battleship in my light cruiser and win. It's just wrong.

I lol'd when I went into a mission, and was told "You have to go kill the Doomsday Machine!"

Then I got in range, and saw

Doomsday Machine (-3)

So... the "Doomsday Machine" is 3 levels less than I am. And apparently I alone hold the key to its destruction, when the fleet of ships firing on it are unable.

I AM THE NEW DOOMSDAY MACHINE!!!

I personally feel we should not have been seeing Nech'vars till at least Commander level+

They are one of the STRONGEST ships the klingons have, and our little miranda's were beating them?

etc.

I wouldnt mind them in fleet actions at the T1 level at all. Makes sense if you think about it. But for individual missions ? Noooo way. If you are a T1 and the mission throws a Negh'Var at you they would hail and you would surrender or run. imo anyway because you shouldnt be able to win that one without lottery luck.

And I could see their point about that too but we dont have to just fight major faction ships. The Enterprise-D encountered combat with many other races some with lower leve tech, etc.

You could be fighting a high end pirate or independent ship that may be the equivalent of a Ktinga or so. Or how about multiple low-level pirate ships ? I would expect a Light Cruiser would encounter more of this type of thing than hgiher end enemy combatants anyway.

i completely agree with OP

Negh'Var's should be something you fear.

The enemy's dont even scale to you're level they are just placed in the instances like this.
You notice this if you go to a later enemy encounter, the enemies can be +15 and kill you.

Yet if you reverse it and play Klingon you get the same feeling with Federation Ships, you can kill every Tier 5 Admiral Cruiser with a lowly Bird of Prey.

1 - do you compain that you dont see Negh'Vars in PvP while you are flying a Miranda?

2 - the way it is now we have seen EVERY type by level 5 and nothing new to see on the Klingon Front even if we hit Rear Admiral, is that any better? Kill the same enemies forever?

Klingon missions stop anyway as soon as you get to the Romulan Sector (somewhere arround Cmdr.), then you have something new to kill, ROMULANS, but again you see EVERYTHING from a Bird of Prey to a Warbird in the very first Mission.. until you get to Cardassia... kind of.

For what we want we would need a bunch of Missions on every Front in the Game for every Rank in the Game but then we would need to fly a LOT through Sectorspace to get from one end to the other every few Missions.

I am done with the Klingons now and i dont think they will send me there again when i have a better Ship.
So the big Kobayashi Maru Faceoff, Souvereign Class vs. 3 lvl 50 Negh'Vars probably will never happen inside a Story Mission?

I just see no way to do it perfect the way the Storymissions are set up.

Still! While flying a Miranda or Constitution Class even a Vor'Cha Cruiser (the one introduced first in TNG) should make you hit the Distress Call Button and run for your life hoping somebody with a higher level then you will come to aid you.

...hmmm i just remembered that in the Open Beta when a Negh'Var fired 3 Photon Torpedos at me, my shields were almost down. When they had a few Birds of Prey as backup i had 50% health after the first few shots, no chance at all without respawning. -> THAT was the perfect ballance. (they should not have placed as many Negh'Vars in the Mobs though, i rarely see a K'Tinga and i believe not one Vor'Cha in the complete Klingon Campaign.)

By now i fly into a Alpha Strike of 15 Torpedos and my shields dont get scratched because difficulty was nerfed hard when people complaint about those stupid Alpha Strikes.
