Hi I'm a T2 Cruiser, I hang with my Cruiser bUddies and we extend our shields all over the place, and target same guy in coordinated stirkes, staying in a groupd is fun and safe....sometimes we even protect our little escort buddies.
I'm the type of ship that every Klingon fears seeing in battle, someone who'll heavily damage you unless you're really prepared for it.
Wait hang on, no - I'm the one who'll fly into battle with his high dps weapons then die in about 5 secs to a Klingon ship that outmanoeuvres me and can burn through my shields in no time =(
Unfortunately tier 1 PvP seemed quite balanced, I heavily dps a target, whilst it uses defensive skills to try and fend off my attacks and hits me back. Now I've just tried my T2 escort in PvP and to be honest, unless my target isn't paying attention to me I'm on a massive loser. I came up against what I could only describe as a tank (in MMO terms) who had some decent shield buffs against my disruptors and beams (and turret and torps) and I think I got him to 85% with nearly full shields before I died.
Now I know that certain weapons are designed against shielded and unshielded targets, but I tried another PvP and the same again, I notice my front shield going down and before I even have a chance to turn sides I'm dead.
I know I'll probably be flamed (haha you're useless at PvP then) but it doesn't seem right that what is essentially the brute force arm of the Federation can turn out so weak at this point. I'd like to at least be able to make a fight of it! (I think my dps is about 740 and add to that rapid fire cannons and emergency power to weapons).
Has anyone else in an Escort had similar experiences?
Drop the beams, get some dual cannons, works ever so much better. Escorts are the only Fed ships that can use cannons, there's a reason for that, use em.
My escort thinks your escort should learn to play and if you haven't already, pick up RSP, science team, and jam sensors.

I do know how to play but the game dynamics seem to have shifted - I've noticed Klingons doing alot more damage, it may be my imagination, but things seem to have changed. I nearly always come top of the damage scores, but invariably that's if I'm not being targetted (I do have jam sensors but unfortunately you tend to have more than one enemy around and I get taken down pretty easily).
I just think there's still some balancing to be done - and perhaps the ability to call a target for your team would be helpful.
Eh did a couple tier 3 PvP missions in an escort. One I got owned and another I did the owning, but dishing out damage wasn't a problem even in the losing one.
I'd probably worry more if I was a cruiser, seeing how Klingon cruisers have twice the manueverability plus a cloak, and only a little less hull.
Always remember, this is NOT a solo game. You need your teammates to keep you alive. You need to group up and communicate. You need to spec your ship and skills to help others. If you fly an escort and expect to tank, you will blow up a LOT.
