As I`ve been levelling my Klingon, one thing has really stood out to me and that is the wide skill variance i see in escort captains.
On the one hand there is the crafty escort captain, who very quickly makes their presence known in the pvp battle through keeping at distance, taking good attack opportunities and avoiding mindless target chasing when there are resource areas on the map to capture.
Then you get the atrocious, hyperactive and talentless escort captain who flies right past his target and into its cannon or torpedo sights, who blazes away with cannons even when a target change would be better and who runs in to support a colleague only to force us to shoot that colleague as he has used jam sensors on the damage dealer.
I have seen poor and strong play from sci ships and cruisers, but only with escorts does it become so blatant as to deserve a facepalm, or so scary as to make that person a priority concern in combat.
Flying one is a true display of your pvp skill, or your lack of it.
Well just for the record, in cracked planetoid, its not very easy to play escort sometimes. If you end up the only escort in team, you will spend more time running then fighting, which isnt that much appealing. That leads to frustration about escorts and eventualy those players, which fail at them, choose other ship and QQ about escort being useless.
But of course, if the escort is healed by other 4 players, it can wreak carnage and bring doom to opposite team.
Badly played escorts are so easy to take down it's not even funny. Just look in their general direction, pop sci team hazzard emitters and EPS 1- press space, plus one hyt 2 and boom.
Well played escorts - let's just say one of those was the only ship to ever beat me 1on1 on borg hunt. Been trying to remember his name but his ship was called Cavalier. Best escort captain if I ever saw one.
