Been thinking about the PvP queues again recently. Previously I thought it might be a good idea to combine FvF, FvK and KvK queues, so that rather than keep you waiting for ages to find enough players of the right faction to start a game, you could get going a lot quicker.
Then I thought, why bother separating queues by map as well? I wouldn't care if the maps were randomised!
This will be even more of an issue in the future - every new map will add three extra queues [FvF, FvK and KvK] - or more when the Romulan faction is added. This just dilutes the volume of players and forces people to join multiple queues inefficiently. Let the game decide this - and maybe give users a preferences tab if they really want to avoid a particular map.
Cryptic has mentioned creating queues for game types instead of specific maps. I think it was in one of the responses in the engineer report thread. Can't remember if it's something they're working on or just planning.
