The Akira was RETROFITTED to carry Fighters during the dominion war as a Last ditch desperate move by the federation to employ anything that was space worthy. The Federation believes that fighters are an out dated, inefficient and ineffective ship type.

Must I show you a link to what the Designer of the akira itself classifed her as...
for gods sake she was designed to have a through way shuttle bay... She was classifed by the designer herself to be a carrier/support/torp boat. So yea you can post w/e specs you want I've already seen and read enough about the damn akira to know what she really was meant to be.

oh and on topic; please no federation carrier it doesn't make any sense for the federation even to have fighters....for an organisation that values sentient life above all else it makes no sense that they would send lone individuals out on suicide missions, as well as having a vessel that has no other purpose other than war.

people have to remember that this is star trek not battle star galactica, star wars or any other sci fi, it is trek and content should only be implemented within those confines.

Instead of asking for this ship and that ship, why not ask for a Beam skill that does random shots into space to hit cloaked targets like the Enterprise did during the Nemesis Movie? Or Random torpedo spread that would actually hit some cloaked ships somewhere.

Firstly i agree with the carrier in a way, but not the typhoon, its looks like the designer has copied battlestar gallatica and stock on naccelles..it made me lol though...anyway id like a PURE battleship..or a Battle-escort..or simular..if the devs run out of ideas for this why dont they search filefront and use one from there im sure the sol-wolf, or the excalibur out of bridge commander would look uber, also ffs sup up transphasic torpedos...no offense but if the devs acutally watched stuff like end game it can take out a cube in 1 shot, wht they have done atm is pathetic for them torpedos, instead putting there power to tri-cobalt..which to me is **** poor of them..RANT oVER

Uhm... they're actually already in-game. You know, the Danube-runabout and the fighters you see and kill by the boatload? Because shields totally let you take on an entire squadron without the slightest problem while you have (almost) perfect accuracy weapons to kill them.

if you guys havent realized yet.. the current ships we see and cant use like the typhoon and that big dreadnaught thingy. theyll be implimented soon enough..

If they use the logic of pulling from other Star Trek games, technically, then Task Force Games was always pretty good about keeping "counter" ships available in Star Fleet Battles which Star Fleet Command was largely based off of and seemingly STO has given at least a bit of a nod to in our space battles.

So, for me it isn't that we need any particular class/type ship added so much as there really does need to be a Federation countermeasure for the Carrier. I'd rather see that than, say, nerfing the carrier... which is already a bit of a lag hog.

But going by the SFB stuff the nitty gritty is really just about making sure there are countermeasures more than anything else.
