Soon as a player hits 'sector space' all your illusions and dreams are shattered , sector space is single handedly killing STO lol , but i dont believe 61 out of the 62 (is that right) left. Surely some would have liked it?
If thats true then boy its in trouble , personally im still enjoying STO.
Well I actually I AM kinda interested in what you got from them for their reasons.
I mean was it just that they didn't like the game, didn't like it enough to pay a monthly fee, liked it but the next shiny came out, liked it but couldn't afford the monthly fee?
What was your age range too....was it mostly college kids early 20's?
Did you check to see what Trek they liked aside from just calling themselves Trekkies?
Hell I'd love to see your questionaire....I'm a prcedural geek in some ways....I read an article about how some kid got his school to buy bottled water through a science experiement for speech class....and I spent about three paragraphs ripping his protocols when everyone was praising his "science" skills.
But yeah in all seriousness we'd need to know a lot more than "all played then all quit" to really draw conclusions.
But then I guess thats what your paper is really for then isn't it?
The study was done before with Conan online.
Purpose: to determine what the expectations was going into the game at start, and then to see if the "software" failed to meet their expectations, or exceeded them, and how. It is a simple comparrison of before and after.... A look at expectations of a given peice of software... in this case a game, to see exactly what people expect and why, and why their expectations were met or not.
As I said, if you really want a list of the reasons they quit or copies of what we had them fill out, you can e mail me, I wont post them here for anymore b/s. I have had enough for one day
OP didn't mention the use of monitoring equipment, cameras, recorders, probes..ect. Perhaps it was a study of psychological or physiological effects of MMOs on the players. Prolonged exposure's impact on aggression or focus or BMI. something like that.
Hmm if I could brainwash a group of people into thinking they were in an MMO for really real and I was their Empress.... excuse me!
Edit: Grrrr ok, that wasnt his experiment but mine still holds water
He said people on the internet suck because they are anonymous.
Not exactly. Anonymity is not the problem, more along the lines of all the ???clowns thinking it gives them some new found superhuman power to go forth and ruin everything via satire, gore, child pornography, racism.....list goes on and on
And unfortunately many of the visitors of 4chan try to incorporate that crap into their daily lives.
So why did you have a control STO group in the first place? Were you testing the effects of dumping large quantities of ferrets on people while they were playing online games or something like that?
And how is the experimental group doing?
My experiments involve a control group, three or four experimental groups, and an out of control group. Sounds like you needed more control over the control group. Break their legs if necessary.
Lol!!! I so like the highlighted part :p
Hmm really all the others left your group? Pfft they're not "Trekkies" then lol. This game lacks, but wow they quit fast...I like STO tbh.
Maybe try to form another mixed group? And did the yleave because of that dumb Atari incident? Although that annoyed me, it didn't make me stop playing lol. Or did your group go on forums a lot? B/c this place tends to have nohting but trolls that try their best to kill the community lol...
Is this anything like the guy who bought and then subsequently returned the 30+ copies of STO he bought for his class as end of year gifts or whatever?
You'll have to excuse the response OP, alot of us are jaded by (and understandably tired of) all the negative posts around here. Some people who don't like the game feel the need to post these "I'm quitting and this many people are coming with/agree with me" threads. to make thing appear worse than they actually are.
