# 1 What System is "Batteries?"
03-13-2010, 02:29 PM
Several powers state their system is 'batteries.' Does that mean these powers suggest you 'pop a potion' before activating them? Because I haven't seen any consoles or skills that improve your 'battery level.'

If this is the case it would certainly make more sense as to why all batteries have such insanely short lifespans.

The systems seem to only indicate the category that they fall under for shared cooldown.

Hi there,

The 'Batteries' system is just like any other system, such as 'Crew', 'Hazard', and 'Shields'. It is the system which related abilities and devices share. Every system has a 'global' 20-second cooldown. So if you use the Crew system for Engineering Team I, you will need to wait 20 seconds before being able to use the Crew system again (e.g., for another Engineering Team, or a Science Team or Tactical Team).

The 'Batteries' system, similar to some of the existing systems, does not seem to be modifiable. This means it exists solely as a cooldown timer.

Some abilities that use the Batteries system are: Emergency Power to Shields, Emergency Power to Weapons, Emergency Power to Engines, Emergency Power to Auxiliary.

In answer to your question, you do not need to pop a battery device in order to use the Batteries system. Note that battery devices do help to modify other systems, specifically the systems to which they add power. They might, however, share the Batteries system cooldown. Test it and find out.

Hope that helps you.

Aux to Batteries creates a battery device that grants a temporary boost to all power subsystems. This battery device shares the same cooldown timer with other battery devices.

Aux to <anything> abilities use the Aux system.
