Im aware of the history behind the MES nerf in beta, as well as the star trek cannon that traditionally the Klingons and Romulans are the specialists in cloaking technology........ A simple thought occurred to me that would potentially allow MES to become useful once again for both PVP and PVE:
For PVE the skill effect would remain as it is currently.
For PVP instead of providing a full cloak, MES would fool the enemy ships sensors and force the enemy player to rely on visual identification. I.e. The ship using MES would vanish from the radar map of all ships further away than X kilometers (deteremined by skill, sensors etc). Additionally ships using MES would not have the pilots name appear above the ship to give enemy players any warning.
For PVP this leaves the tactical advantage to the fully cloaked ship - who can detect and stalk other vessels completely unseen visually or on radar.
Ships using MES would still stand out like a sore thumb against empty space - but it would redress the balance somewhat and make it a useful tactical skill - but nowhere near as OP as before.
Just a thought............. Feel free to flame away
