What competition are you referring to? I don't recall one, but I could be wrong.

Great, now i'm not sure.

The naming of the tier 4 ship variants, that wasn't open to everyone?

Oh right, yes it was... was there a prize, though, besides having a ship named after your suggestion?

I thought this game followed canon?

This is why they shouldn't hold back because of "Breaking canon".

They have broke canon more times than Janeway broke the Prime Directive.

True, but to be fair...

1) It's reasonable to assume that new ships would be developed, designed, and built between Nemesis and today, and
2) We have no canon examples for said ships, so
3) Let's make some up! :p

It's not canon, but when you're establishing post-canon story elements, you have to take a few liberties.

I guess my point is that even though they try to remain true to canon, designing the new T5 ships would be considered an "acceptable" break from canon.

Copies of the game i thought. perhaps something even bigger as the main prize.

No big thing, but prizes none the less.

I think the main complaint was that the whole event had been overhyped, especially as a big event to fans and the community.
Everyone gets excited, heads over to the main section, then they notice the conditions and realise it does not apply to them.
It really should've been stated in the main section that it was only for US Community fans and not have been so hyped up (the "mysterious" countdown was talked about all over the internet)
