I was playing a little bit last night on my Lt 9 tactical officer, and I went in to cause some destruction in a deep space encounter in the Regulus Sector Block.

To my delight, as a level 9 player, about 2/3 of the enemy ships flying around there were a minimum of 18 levels above me. Some of them were even +39 to me (level 48 enemies in the second lowest level area? they use hax!!).

How exactly is the spawning system working now that everything is scaled? If someone high level pops into a low level DSE, is everyone else doomed forever to have to fight enemies 3x their level until the server resets or otherwise?

While I understand why some people would want to keep high level players away because they want to be able to compete for goodies and stuff, I kind of feel that even with the level scaling of Fleet Actions and otherwise will still favor Escorts and Tactical officers who just blow everything up and rack up all the points. I personally don't care if a high level person pops in, gets the highest score, and scores a sweet rare item that is too low of a level to be of any worth to them. If they help tip the tides in our favor, I'm all for it because completing some of these missions has gotten pretty frustrating, the crystal entity speaks for itself.

Secondly, because everyone has been split up by the scaling of the fleet actions, the number of people that are in each particular fleet action have been cut down so it becomes even more frustrating and difficult to complete these missions without sitting there for a few hours more than it should take while waiting for enough people of your level to log in to help tackle the enemy. So instead of like 6 low levels and 1-2 high levels being needed to do this things, you pretty much need to completely fill up your instance with like-leveled people to tackle the large spawns that are being tossed at us. For me, at least, this isn't a very realistic scenario.

I think the whole level scaling mechanic has made completing Deep Space Encounters more time consuming than it needs to be for me, while I have to wait for level-appropriate enemies to respawn so I don't have to try to take on a swam of level 48 Gorn fighters. Sadly, I think I have to say I'm going to completely avoid them on my lower level characters until this system is fixed. Hopefully this isn't the case for Klingons (I haven't tried my Orion since the update), otherwise I'm going to have to force myself to enjoy PVP a bit more than I've been.

You are so right!

I hate these putz admirals that ruin lower level DSEs. It's really no fun when a squadron of ships 37 levels higher than you vaporize you so quickly. I can't even touch +37 level fighters, let alone cruisers.

This has to stop. Don't let anyone higher than 5 levels above the DSE level into that DSE. Simple and problem solved.

Don't blame the RA5 it's supposed to be lvl banded now. The last 7 out of 8 Fleet Actions Iv'e done have been on my own because no RA5s are around and it won't let lower levels in.

I think something is broken with the level-banding system or something related to it. I've encountered this a few times. ASide from that, I also got sometimes send to entirely different combat zones than initially "advertised" - I try to fight a Hirogen 7 levels below me, I fight Terran Empire 5 levels above me. I've reported the latter, and have noted that I had the same issue on an existing bug. I guess we can only wait at this time for them to figure out what's going wrong and fix it.

I figured they added highest-level enemies to keep people from wandering too far away and getting lost. They're there to corral is, I guess, is how it looked to me.
