For pound for pound u can't get better than ati.
two 4850/90's 1gb in crossfire would cost u 140 quid, now show me any gfx card under 250 quid that can beat the proformance of that setup.

/edit

ofc res depentant, but 4850/90s in xr is the cheapest high end gaming u can get for 1280x1080 and under
Crossfire for 1280x1024 (not 1080, that would be just odd, 1080 goes with 1920) is silly and unnecessary. A single 4850/4870/4890 is way more then enough for that res.

yeah i ment 1920x1080 not sure where i got the 1280 from..lol

but regardless, my point sticks there is just no reason to go above a 4890 in crossfire unless u got money to burn and a VERY BIG monitor.

I would recommend an Nvidia, GTX 260 or higher.
Simply for the fact that STO has PhysX running at the heart of it, and should Cryptic see the wisdom of implementing futher PhysX goodies, an Nvidia card is where its at.

# 24 Low FPS

Ok, this post is a bit unsettling to me now.
I run an AMD Phenom II quad core (945) with 6GB low lat DDR3, Dual 500Gb WD drives in a raid 0, with a xfx radeon 4850 at 1920x1200 res on a samsung 24" monitor and i get MAYBE 8fps on ground missions. Space is much better, but in a fight even it gets choppy. Sound is an Xfi Titanium Fatal1ty in hardware mode. So what gives? Drivers are all up to date, any advice?
