In most MMO's, the fastest way to level is to spec for DPS. Crowd control, threat management, and even survival talents give way to being able to grind through enemies as quickly as possible. Does this hold true in STO? I'm currently playing Tac/Cruiser, but I do wonder if it wouldn't go more quickly if I used an Escort. Thanks!
Why would you want to level up so fast??? I don't bloody get you people. You're gonna be an RA so quick and then with nothing to do. Why not take your time and enjoy the game... rather than rushing through it like you're at work trying to finish a job fast enough...

Must say that this "fast & furious" approach to games perplexes me. Like on PSN when people purchase games only to acquire "trophies". What's the point, really?

I know this rant is slightly off topic, but figure it could serve as food for thought.

My 2 cents, and all that...

You guys...really. Thanks to everybody who gave me relevant opinions and actually answered my questions. The rest of you...jeez. It was just a question.

Here's the deal: I have limited playtime. I enjoy leveling, and the storyline, and believe it or not (because you all seem to think you know so much about me) I like doing things in-game "just because." But I want to see the endgame, because that's what content is coming out, and I want to share the excitement of new content. I want to do STF's with the rest of my fleet. I want to fly the big ships and see what gameplay is like at the top strata. So, I'm sorry for those of you who either are leveling savants or who maxed out the game in a matter of "days", but my wife, my full-time job, and my three kids would like for me to be able to enjoy my hobby (because this is IT right now) and spend time with the rest of my life as well.

So please, next time think about how much you so obviously DON'T know before you open your condescending, judgemental yappers to say nothing of value.

OP you should keep in mind that while the escort has a little more weapon damage then the other classes it's shield and hull is weaker. You can use what you like but for the extra hull I would try the Cruiser.

they dont have a 'little' more, they have substantially more

OP - be a tac officer in a tac ship. you will enjoy ground and space. the other two classes have drawbacks in one or the other

The life of an RA/BG..
Log on
Do dailies

Add in some pvp/raidsodes here and there, but those are mostly to kill boredom.
Raidsodes are for when you want to be reminded why PuG'n that stuff sux.

Game feels more like a chore @ that level, than fun tbh.
Also, purple gear = antiproton/tricobalt, so unless you want to use them, there's only the shields, dish, engine, and away team crap to buy. Well, unless you want to save up, for the exceedingly high blue+ AH items.... but we won't go there.

Think end game WoW, but w/ even less fun, and even less than that, in terms of reward for effort.
