ITS NOT HARD LOL CAKES WTF I DID NOT DO ONE PVE MISSION AND I GOT TO BG5 AHAHAHA. anyway after i got bored on my awesome gorn i rolled a fed, and let me tell you its so boring that it is hard haha. I find myself queueing for pvp more fun than missioning. then i got bored and i made another gorn anyway i just got to say that STOBEE'S KLINGON IS ONLY LT CMDR 4 KEKEKEKEKEKEKEKE AND HE'S LIKE WTF WE GET NOTHING OK THANKS BYE GORNS ARE AWESOME.

erm at no point have Cryptic officially said that choosing to play a klingon is hard mode, its pvp based but it is NOT supposed to be harder.

I actually think Fed PVe is the slower grind than klingon pvp (I have 2x BG klings and 1x feddy captain, 1x feddy lt) and i still find myself with my feddy captain doing pvp as its good xp at a steady rate, something i just havn't seen in the PVE side of the game.

One thing i don't think they should nerf but open up further is engines with aditional stats, as fedy captain i am still running around with htose engines with +5 to stats on them, but yet the Klings get nothing like that (or didn'tlast time i looked), there are some real inbalances in the game, more so since BO space abilities have been norrowed to Saurians, so feddys get another bonus that if Crpytic saw the potential in this would expand the space abilities greatly to add even more customisation to your chars/ships for both sides.

in conclusion:

Cryptic need to balance the rewards on each side, i don't know, maybe actually play their game a little and its quite obvious the differences in the side, loot and xp wise.

Suggestions:

get some of that awsome feddy loot on the kling side
Increase the fed pve skill point gain slightly to balance it with the XP gain in pvp

There is a reason the Klingons dominate PvP (and I PvP at T5 on both sides). Cloak? No. Better ships? Actually the Fed ships are better in many ways, so no.

It is because PvP will always be harder than PvE as real people adapt in ways the AI cannot.

So by the time most Klingon players reach BG (that's "Admiral" to you, Fed boy), they will have fought in literally hundred of PvP matches.

And keep in mind that most current Klingon BGs circa April 2010 did it when there was ZERO ability to level via Star Cluster missions, whereas many Feds never PvP until the get to Admiral and run out of other stuff to do... and then they are amazed when the BoPs, Raptors and Neghvar's they killed by the dozen in PvE are suddenly kicking the snot out of them...

...However as more Klingons grind up via explore missions, the qualitative edge an average Klingon PUG has over an average Fed PUG will start to erode (I am already seeing that start to happen). I am not say there are not good Fed players, there most certainly are, but the *average* Fed player is far far less experienced at PvP compared to the *average* Klingon player due the weird way Cryptic set the Klingon faction up initially.

My point? It is irrelevant what Cryptic officially say... levelling via PvP is "hard mode" and that should be obvious to anyone who got to Admiral as a Fed via PvE and BG as a Klingon via PvP

Fed missions do give you better stuff, but they give it to you in a completely random, haphazard manner. New weapons might give you a bigger % boost to your overall effectiveness than a new deflector array, say, if you're a Tactical officer in an Escort. When levelling a klink, you can choose to get better weapons first, then a better shield, then better consoles, etc, in the order you want, meaning your effectiveness increases quite quickly upon hitting a new rank. However, on the Fed side, you have to take what you're given, which might mean taking a blue deflector array that you won't really benefit from much, and having to wait 2 or 3 levels for the fancy new weapons you will really make use of.

Damn, a presumably erudite comment gets posted by an unknown but no doubt esteemed colleague and this is the very moment my Universal Translator decides to break.

I feel enlightenment has been dangled before me only to be torn from my grasp by a cruel trick of fate.

If only I could understand what was being said, but alas... Oh the humanity of the moment moves me to tears

Federation PvE needs to have the difficulty turned up. I don't really care if it is difficult or not play, (I don't see how fighting a scripted event is challenging). But the problem with PvE being to easy is that I have done the "the big dig" and CE so many times with an entire group of people that have no idea how to play except running around aimlessly killing things. Nobody puts any thought about what they need to do for the quest... and after the dozen or so times trying, it gets really frustrating.

If there needs to only be one reason to make PvE more difficult. Then it should be to help train the people leveling up. Force them to use their abilities, and it will make them better players.

Bad idea... well, no... actually a good idea... but bad because if Cryptic were to read this and say "By Q! That man Judous is right! This is far too easy!"... they would just increase the spawn rate by a factor of ten and make them all spawn magically within gun range... ie turn the whole game into one of those unutterably tedious zerg-and-respawn-fest STF encounters.
