Ask and ye shall receive. STO Power Calculator 2.0 is in final prep and it includes rich and creamy Klingony-goodness (uh, wait, maybe I'm confusing the Klings with Twinkies... Hmmm...)

I really appreciate your suggestions and bumps/sicky signature votes. Heh. I'll see what I can do about communicating with an admin. I completely re-wrote the opening post. I'm now concerned it's too much info . I also updated the calculator, adding Klingon ships by request, added some comments, and I think spruced it up a bit to make it easier to read. I welcome your thoughts.

Transparency is a key to making good decisions! Efficiencies traits (either captain or BO) help the Efficiency skills, and those only help powers at or below 75, closer to 25 the more effective. So in Attack Mode, with Weapons being at 100, they get zero. Shields at 50, actually did get 0.45 points, which isn't displayed. But the two preset at 25 get about 0.8 each, enough to push each up a full point on the display. So yeah, they aren't much help.

I changed my first post, but thought I should keep the original for historical purposes. So here's my thread starter as it was when originally posted 05/06/10 at 5:24p (PDT):

Just fill in the green fields on the first page with your own character's current stats, or what you'd like their stats to be, and you can see how it will affect your ship's power levels.

I have plugged my two characters' stats into the sheet and it matches perfectly. After tinkering with settings, I plan to respec my RA5. And now I have a road map for how to spec my Cmdr1 toon. You can see them as samples in the sheet (bottom tabs).

For an escort with a covalent shield. Would 100/10/50/40 weapons/shields/engines/aux - for power levels work or would ya get destroyed?

You can not set a power level below 25 (or above 100). You would be unable to downset Shields to 10 to raise Aux to 40.

If you want your Engines at 50, Aux at 40... Well, since escorts have an innate +15 to Weapons power, and were ok with S=25, W=100 (instead of 115), you could downset your Weapons to 85. That would give you: 100/25/50/40.

Put some levels in Warp Core Training (7) and Auxiliary Systems Efficiency (9), set your gauges to 95/25/50/30 and you'll actually end up with 110/29/52/41. It's pretty amazing what you can do with some properly placed skill points. Try out some profiles using the calculator linked in the first post.

As for judging the surviveability of an Escort so empowered with what I assume you mean is a "Covariant" Shield? That would be outside my knowledge base (I've never yet flown an Escort, don't have a "feel" for it) and outside the purpose of this thread. I will say that personally, my Assual Cruiser loves it's big shields and 71 shield power in Attack Mode. But then I'm slow and hulky, an Escort gets defense from it's speed, so I dunno. Good luck!

You're welcome GATEGOD and Nick_R, always happy to help! And in that vein, I'd like to point beginner's to Fuzun's Beginner's Guide to Ship Power. Lots of excellent info there!

Fantastic utility, really worthwhile and I hope it's stickied (if it has been by the time my post goes up).

I've got the latest (2.1) version and i've discovered a small flaw. Where you enter the ship type (for that bonus) the field auto-populates with what you have entered ie: i type S, corrects to S=Science Vessel.

This is causing the ship type power bonus to remain blank, having had a quick look at the formula i believe it's the way it's been written. If you delete the additional text in the ship type box ie (in red) S=Science Vessel then the formula correctly adds the appropriate bonus. The formula is looking for the text to = only the letter code, not the description as well. I'm not an XL genius so I'm not sure how to get it to check ONLY the first letter in the box but if the text it's searching for is the SAME as the ship type box then it will display correctly. I've done a quick change to the formula on mine so that the relevant box now reads "S=science Vessel". this causes the aux box to populate correctly.

That is probably a really bad explanation but hopefully you get what I mean.
