I would think that the Captains table would be this grand area where I could get awesome items, unique foods and maybe even work on my craftings. A little bit of Memory Alpha, A little bit of K-7 as well as the shipyards at Earth and DS9.

Why are these all not in one place to make me having a reason to go there? I should have access to any vendored item and since it is for the elite, even some special items!

Where is the band? it seems like the waitresses are the only thing that place has got going for it...Spice it up and give us a one-stop-shop for all our needs.

Oh I can't forget the magic words....PLEEEEEAAAAASSSSSSSEEEEE!!!!!!!

That's not at all what it was in the books. Why should it be something it wasn't?

Hey since not all of us have all the schematics of what it is please to explain cause right now I see no function to the Captains Table. I don't even see RPers there if it was only ment to serve what is mentioned in the books.

The Captain's Table is a mysterious bar, run by a being known only as "Cap". Only captains (or people who were at a time acting captains) are entitled to enter the establishment. Traditionally, new captains are brought to the bar by their friends or former commanding officers; Captain Picard introduced Captain Riker upon his promotion.

The bar appears to exist in another dimension because its door can appear anywhere around the galaxy, and it is visible only to captains. This is corroborated by the fact that the bar door could not be seen by Tom Paris when he was on an away mission with Captain Janeway; it appeared to the young M'k'n'zy on the planet Xenex, and even to Captain E.J. Smith of the RMS Titanic while aboard his vessel.

Drinks in the bar are provided free of any monetary charge; the "payment" required by the proprietor is for the captain to tell a story to the rest of the patrons. This story does not necessarily have to be about the captain, nor does it have to be true; Captain Archer entertained the bar with a suspense-filled (and, from the perspective of the reader, plainly false) tale of his first meeting with "Porthos the Great", portraying the beagle as a famous spy-dog.

Thus, the Captain's Table novels are a collection of short stories, each told by a captain or commander from Trek lore, bookended by short sequences taking place inside the Captain's Table bar.
That's the Memory Alpha wiki write up on the place.

It's a bar. For captains. To tell stories.

Yes but wouldn't it be cool if you could get Missions from those famous people or even go on missions with them? The awesome would be heard 10 light years away.

yes...how awesome would STO be if you could get into the Captain's Table and go on a mission from the Captain of the Titanic?? Almost like it has nothing to do with Star Trek at all. Captain's Table is a bar, and a freakin' sweet one at that...just leave it the way it is.

Maybe, but you know what would be even coolerer? If my STO character could have a lightsaber, or a star destroyer, or maybe fly a viper!!! Yeah!

The Captain's Table is what it's supposed to be. It's not something else just cause it'd be coolerer.

No it isn't what it is supposed to be! I pay for items I buy there with credits not a story...and who would listen anyway I can't seem to get anyone attention! It is not even close to what it's suppose to be! If it was as I was I could go to it at anytime not just at Earth or Qo'Nos! Make it alive the place is dead and makes no point as to why it was brought into game.

Now it while I was there I met with Capt Riker or Archer and was given a mission of vital importance that would be something! If, because it is an exclusive club I got perks other players didn't by going there that would be something! I have a mailbox, exchange and bank that I can go to from earth spacedock by not going to earth spacedock, YEAH!

Now if when I went to there and there was story telling going on and I could get "free" items then I would totally agree with you that it was doing Just what it is supposed to. But the fact is that it needs some spice and life to make someone who slaves at this game for 400 days is super thrilled to gain access to this exclusive club of captains!
