# 1 Saving Skill Point Sets
06-10-2010, 07:52 AM
Apologies if this is a function already, but I haven't seen a way to do it...

I'm a RA5 Engineer, flying a Cruiser. I've got my Skill Points where I want them, and I enjoy playing.

However, sometimes, I like to change ship, for a bit of variety and to add a bit more playability to the game while it's still in its infancy.

My problem is that whenever I change ship, I want to change my Skill Points to suit the ship that I'm changing to. For instance, if I want to fly an Escort, then I'll want points in Cannons, Escort Captain, etc. If I want to fly a Science Ship, then I'd put my points into the Science skills. And when I want to change back, I'd put them back to how they are now.

But to do that, I'd have to spend 20,000 Merits every single time. And eventually, I just wouldn't be able to do it any more.

What I'd like is to be able to save Skill Point Sets so that I can switch to and fro at will, and thus enjoy a variety of gameplay, rather than just crwaling around in my brick. So I'd save my Cruiser Skill Point Set as "Cruiser Set" (imaginative name, I know :p ), and I'd pay my Merits to respec to an Escort Build, and save that as "Escort Set", and then when I wanted to change back again, I'd just be able to click on the "Cruiser Set", and be back to my normal build again. I'd pay my Merits again to respec to a Science Build, save that set, and click back to my Cruiser again.

It'll just add a bit more fun and variation for me, as I can try out different ships and different BO skills. Cos what's the point flying a ship that your Skill Points don't help? And more playability is always good, right?

have to agree this would be cool, and may open up PVP to more ppl, as hardcore PvP'ers will only play one type and put all their points into it. probably need a limit of 3 sets, (Ground PvP, Space PvP, and PvE would be mine.)

Saving spec setup is a cool idea.

But each respec is going to have to cost you 20k merits each time. That's the point of their price tag after all.

As a compromise, you could have a certain number of sets you could switch between freely, and only pay if you wanted to either build a new set or re-work an existing one. I kind of like this idea.

I don't do this often but....... Wow did something along these lines that worked wonder.

Basically you could have 2 talent point load outs and switch between them once you reached max level. This allowed you to have your arena spec and raid spec, or what ever it is people do for WoW endgame.

I think that this would be an excellent option for endgame as it would make people more likely to want to have 2 primary ships and if you have 2 primary ships you might be more willing to purchase additional ship variants.

Yeah, absolutely. I mentioned that in my original post.

"and I'd pay my Merits to respec to an Escort Build,"
"I'd pay my Merits again to respec to a Science Build"

I think it'd give a lot more playability to the game, and for me, certainly, it would be a huge improvement to have some variety.
I wouldn't even mind having to pay Merits to buy a Skill Set Save-Slot, although I think we should start with 2 or 3, anyway.
