You've got a knack for hyperbole, no doubt.
And, worry not, I've been pushing this game at the street level for quite some time. I referred two friends and both nephews back before referral rewards were a even a twinkle in our eyes. Am I concerned that I didn't get referral credit? No, because this is a great game that I'm really enjoying, with or without perks, and the more subscribers it has, the longer it will last.

In response to the huge amount of controversy over the AGT Galaxy, I am posting this thread urging you to take a stand against this kind of immature behavior. In preface, I am currently a sales manager for Sprint, and I have been in sales management for over 7 years. I know how to motivate people to sell!
YOU Crypitc, must make a statement letting everyone know that rewards like the AGT Galaxy are ONLY attainable through the referral program. This will have the following effect:

Look at all of the threads and posts made in this subforum. How many of them are from devs that don't include locking threads?
1) Continue to provide motivation for the sales men and women of STO to recruit people to the game.
I'm sure Atari/Cryptic's marketing division doesn't need a ship as incentive to sell the game. Oh, you mean the PLAYERS that the company is getting to do their work for them. So? I think that the main reason that people would want to go out and spread the good word about a product is because they feel that said product is worth recruiting for, not some shiny.
2) Not undermine the hard work that some have already done, and if in the future if new incentives are added, people will actually work to get them, instead of waiting for them to be added to the C-Store for $6.
Tell that to the people who invested in a Champions lifetime subscription who just got majorly ***** due to the whining to get their EXCLUSIVE item put up for almost nothing. The game has already been undermined.
3) Give you justification to delete/lock all the polls/threads full of fail and whine, thus reducing the amount of negative energy on the forums. Negative energy is bad for business! If a stand is taken I guarentee 9/10 of the nay sayers will actually get off thier rears and recruit people, and that is GOOD for business!
