I just made Lt. Commander and promoted my tac officer to Lt. I also trained him in Torpedo: High Yield II. I then upgraded that skill to level 7 (High yield 1 is still only level 1) and went to go try it out. Sadly, the high yield II ability is not available when in the list when I press "P". I'm wondering if anybody would have any idea why?

Could it be to do with the ship you are flying?

At your level, the only ship that has a LT Tactical station, which I believe your LT BO will need to be stationed at to use his THY2 skill, is the Escort.

If flying a cruise or science ship, your Tactical LT will only be able to use his ensign level skills in space.

That's the answer, thanks dogbody! maybe i should have picked a different ship.

If I remember correctly, the various ships at that level cost about 20,000 energy credits each, which you acquire in a surprisingly short time, so buy one of each and see which you like flying the most.

I ended up sticking with the cruiser as I felt it suited my style the most but then I am playing an engineer.
