Yes, but Intrepids are not as verstile. But If I was given command of a star ship, I'd either ask for an Intrepid or a New Orleans class.

I quite like the design of the Galaxy class personally. But as has been mentioned, it does steer like a comatose brick.

I think the design did it's job, It is clearly a Starfleet ship, is clearly a successor of sorts to the Constitution Class of TOS.

just like the Constitution it is not meant to be sleek, but optimised based on a principal we are not aware of, to counter forces we do not consider.

not the prettiest ship ever though, but then neither was the Connie.
