Just started playing the game this past friday and all I can say is I love you.

Awesome info. I'm gonna have to use a respec to correct some stuff. I've been maxxing tier 1 abilities hehe.

Yes, you can, if you also pump enough power into the system concerned. However, this will be at cost to the rest of your ship's systems.

I've personally found that unless you're specifically setting yourself up for one specific job in combat, having 100 in one system is detrimental when its best to even things out to be as versatile as possible.

Maybe due to the fact that I'm not running with a plethora of science skills, but I just don't have a lot of abilities I'm tapping t3+, and it works out that I can 9 my "core" skills and still have 4 in others trying to make sure nothing gets neglected.

Admittedly no max level toon yet, but I really don't see that changing things too much. Time will tell I suppose, but I can't see myself pulling knocking a 9 on starship battle strategy down to a 7 just to bump personal shields engineering up from 4 to 6 just because points are more efficiently spent that way.

I'd advise you to bump Starship Battle Strategy down to 6. You only need to reach for the higher numbers if you rely upon Attack Pattern abilities, as those work off Battle Strategy as their 3rd skill.
