# 1 On-ship services
08-24-2010, 10:42 AM
Any chance we could get some of the services provided by Starbases put in the interior of our ships?

The key one that comes to mind is a Tailor.

Sure would be nice to trade uniforms out for period costumes ala Gangster suits, cultural disguises, etc (or Risa swimwear ) when in deep space on a mission.

I would think only cruisers would have that... I doubt escorts carry around tailors -- except Garek, he would be useful...

However it would be nice if all of the uniforms you have would show up in your quarters in a closet...

Well, with replicators you don't really need a physical tailor person.

But they could (for simplicity of coding) just put in a 'representation' of one on the smaller ships - an Emergency Tailoring Hologram, or ETH if you will. lol!

(Besides, at this point in the game, all ship interiors are the same regardless which ship you actually have, so putting an ETH somewhere in one interior, means that all ships would get it)

Wouldn't a tailor be the kind of thing a luxury liner would have for high-end clients to use? Not military vessels going to war. The ships we use aren't our personal property, exactly, their Star Fleet defense and offensive ships to attack and kill our enemys. They might have doctors and a med lab for sure, but something like tailors and private chefs would definitely not be on board, they might take up the place of that one more torpedo you'll need to stay alive, lol.

Well, I'm thinking more along the lines of canon (and 25th century technology). In the Original Series, Kirk, Spock, McCoy and other away team members routinely had costume changes that would allow them to blend in with the local population of any given planet during any given time period.

Why wouldn't even the smallest ship in the 25th century be able to provide clothing in a similar fashion by replicator if a captain was willing to use the energy to do it (Energy Credits)?

(For ease of coding the existing "tailor" graphic/mechanic would simply be added somewhere inside the ship interiors we have now. This would be a quick and easy solution from having to return to a starbase just to change your clothes, lol!)
