Chances it will be the Enterprise F or H which will be the visual predecessor of the Enterprise J and visual successor of the Enterprise E. Whether it is closer to the E or J in looks is not known.

I really hope I never see the enterprise-f in game. While most of cryptic's designs are good...they aren't good enough to have the honor of designing an 'enterprise'. Perhaps Drex could design it for us??

Wasn't it clarified that the mention of the Enterprise J was just a reference for a future version of the Enterprise but not the J?! I'd like to see an F, G, H, I, and J in the game eventually.

Rogue elements in Starfleet hundreds of years in the future send advanced starships back in time to upset the timeline for nefarious purposes.

If you purchase the Enterprise j through the c-store you get an awesome ship but at a price: other advanced ships will materialize periodically to try to take you down and restore temporal balance - kind of like the Nemesis system in Champions.

See? There you have a plausible explanation and an associated game mechanic. It's amazing what you can do in sci fi.

That's a great idea. I like it!

*sigh*

It's too bad that something that cool will never happen in this game.

And you just thought that what they were doing now was complain.... In Champions, players pitched a storm because their Nemsis' minions would interrupt/gank the hero in a mission (a villain attacking the hero when he's most distracted/vulnerable *gasp*).

I read Jim Butcher.. Like a rabid fanboi I bought and read the Dresdenverse RPG books when they came out. In the books, there beings that are so powerful that they aren't stated. They have 'plot device' level of power. They show up, you run or stay as best you can out of their way.

The Enterprise-J is no different. It has a size and scale and power that falls, squarely, with both feet, into 'plot device' levels of awesome (or power take your pick).
If it EVER.... EVER... graces the scene in STO, it will not be captained by a PC captain.
At best, the ship will be a location. A mission arc or STF will happen on it or around it.
Take the new poll... as an example... the leader is a Federation Splinter group.
The J comes back and has to be fought.. BY A FLEET.
you aint buyin it in the c-store....

just sayin....

Cryptic could certainly off the Enterprise J in the C store. It doesn't have to be just for fleets either (I personally don't like the idea of fleet-only ships anyway - what do you have to do, share them with the rest of your fleet and only use the two days out of the year?)

The point of my post is that you could pull it off the J with a little creativity. I'd rather pay for something interesting than a simple sparklepony anyway.

Also, I play Champions too and if you're going down because of Nemesis minion ganking then you need to re-examine your power setup. I've been Nemesis ganked many times and it's rare that the minions even make it five steps before dropping.

You really should slow down and re-read what I posted.

I never stated it was for a fleet purchase. not sure where you got that from. I stated that the J would be scenery. It would be the focus of a fleet action or STF or mission arc.

Interesting that you denigrate cstore items as 'sparklepony' when the player community, largely, only wants cosmetic items in the c-store. I get that there are some players that want a little meat with their potatoes but anyways... that argument happens on other threads.

Just for the record, I've never faceplanted from a minion gank. My original statement involved the outcry from other players around the subject of minion ganking in the Nemesis arcs. Its relevant because there will be a similar outcry when time agents warp in while the player is in the middle of something.
If you would like a another example, take the complaints from players concerning getting sucked into DSEs when traveling in Sector Space.

My OP was to provide a suggestion/request to Cryptic. I'm not going to address your self-decided proclamations of what the Enterprise J will or will not be with a point-by-point rebuttal. Cryptic will either consider my suggestion or they won't; this isn't that big of a deal. Maybe you should calm down and get some fresh air, regain some perspective.

One thing I will say though: the toxic geekcore of this game will scream, whine, shriek and complain about ANY decision Cryptic makes at this point. I hope the devs aren't losing sleep over the nerdrage that will erupt if they decide to get creative and have fun with something.

This topic is moot. CBS already said no to player Js. Arguing and moaning will not change that. Get over it already and move on.

Reason for edit:
It was 2:30am when I typed this the first time, my brain doesn't work that well after 12am. lol
