There is a beta out for IE 9. I have this installed on my system and the launcher works with it. It is possible that installing this beta will fix whatever files might be broken on your system.

Just go to Microsoft's website and search for Internet Explorer 9 beta to find the install files.

Having exact same problem. Ticket 11541972. No idea. Tried all the advice. Bad timing for me, was really enjoying the game. If other solutions, I'll try it otherwise, not worth days of time.

IE 9 requires Windows 7 or Vista, and I'm running XP. Am I going to have to get a new OS to keep playing STO?

I had this same problem last night, 11:00 Central.

Load up the launcher, get to 2 percent complete, crash to blue screen.

Then someone mention IE8 on the forums, I was running IE7.

Downloaded IE8, installed, restarted.....

Was on STO by 11:15 Central.

I know this will not work for everyone, but it fixed mine!

The specific version isn't usually what is important, just the act of installing a new one will often fix corrupt MSHTML installs and correct some settings.
