I know everything ask me about anything, no but really we all learn something each week and learn how to use skills/new ideas/strategy's from what other ppl are doing.. I mean recently I've heard about partial success storeys from things i didn't know before, healing bops (most potential healing builds out there), the turret cruiser/team.. can't think of more atm but there are lots of ppl who experiment and try new builds.
I think if your getting owned by a guy really bad you have to look at what hes doing and why and then think of a good way to counter it.. for example solfaria*sp; runs a very unique escort build I wont explain it in detail because I think you should figure out what hes doing yourself.. (I've actually copied the build and tested it myself very funny build). Look what your opponents are doing learn what to do against them. In my opinion people who play "fed" plays a cruiser ask for advice probably from a fleet or some mate and do the exact same build and then go to pvp. But they are quite predictable. Easy to win if they don't heal each other.
yeah, i can testify that sometimes not all is as it seems.
i just got my most recent toon up to RA this morning, and as soon as i did that, i ran a test with one of the more regular PvPers in my fleet this morning. he used a VA Klink Carrier(sci) against my advanced escort, fresh from promotion with no T5 buffs.
Using a special equipment loadout i have been working on making effective, and my new full range of tactical abilities, i threw everything against him, and the score was 5/4(me/him).
this gave me a little ego boost, and i went straight into PvP- cos if i can take down a tanking sci carrier 1v1, i should be able to dish out enough DPS to hurt a few ships before i go down right. the rest of the feds on my side were total twits and until the score was 8-0 i didnt manage to get a team going. i got whipped by a tactical cap in a carrier, and other cruisers and BoPs(why doesnt anyone fly raptors at RA/VA?) repeatedly.
The carrier agreed with my whining that Feds need to learn how to team up together so we can at least communicate and get rudimentary teamwork, but the next match when i had a team going whined about Feds being OP because of their tactics of ganging up on Klinks.

If you compare it with a BoP the differences aren't that significant for the role of burst damage. I mean if you set the BO loadout as similar as you can get you only get 1 extra tac ensign slot and if you already have BO1 and THY1 on the other two it's just tac team 1 which isn't likely to sway things one way or another.
You lose a aft weapon (which in most cases would be another turret), 3k hull (no idea about shields) and a tac console in a BoP but you gain battle cloak, eng console and a significantly more turn rate.
So while technically you can do more DPS with a raptor (due to console and extra aft weapon) the BoP is more versatile BO wise and can survive better in some ways by being able to run and cloak as soon as out of range and console resists....it's just more fun really.
