Aux effects the amount of damage that FBP reflects, but how much? FBP III is stated to reflect back 100% of damage. I'm assuming that's based off of 75 Aux, where the rest of the Aux powers are balanced around. So how much of an effect does switching to 125 Aux have it on it? 150% damage reflected?
I have no idea. I'll have to get some help to test this, but it will go into my other thread detailing science powers when I get the answer.

The formula is shield power level divided by 500, so 100% shield power would impart 20% damage resistance."
Emphasis added. Aux power has no direct effect on shield resistance. Its shield power that helps shields.

When I tested it, it definitely did not affect it. I can test it again, but PSW had no change at all from aux power, from what I remember.

When I tested it way back when, the only thing that helped PSW at all was a +Emitters Deflector. Neither Aux nor Photonic Theory (the skill or Holomatrix Diode consoles) did anything to it.

I was probably thinking emitters.

Great info.

Bump.

I started putting together an Excel spreadsheet with all the info you have on here and your other thread on auxiliary power bonuses. Do you mind if I use the information? It's a nice little reference sheet i'd love to show you but how do I upload it? I'm guessing link to file uploading site?

I know this is an old thread but I have to ask, why is this stickied in the federation shipyards forum? I mean we have the character builds forum and the BOff powers forum, both of which would be more fitting for this. Nothing in this thread is fed specific and I think some of the KDF exclusive players could use this information but will not think to look here.

Anywho I think maybe a move would be appropriate.

Okay, I'm cornfuzed. I was under the impression auxilliary power on science AND non-science ships increased the chances of spotting a cloaked enemy ship. Is this not true?

It was written for the science ship and in the science ship forums. The science ship is the primary user of the suite of aux-based powers in the game, and anyone else who wants more info on them can always be pointed to this thread. Of course it is useful to anyone but a simple "look here" suffices in my opinion.

No, that is correct. The problem is the magnitude. Science ships (and carriers) have a much higher base detection range than any other ship. So when you get something that multiplies that range like aux power, it naturally has a much better effect on a ship with the higher base value.

A simplified example (these are NOT actual in game numbers):

A science ship has a base detection range of 1000 meters.
A cruiser/escort has a base detection range of 100 meters.

They both then max out their aux setting and lets say that doubles their detection range.

The science ship now has a detection range of 2000 meters.
The cruiser/escort now has a detection range of 200 meters.

So they may both have doubled their detection ranges, but the cruiser/escort is still nearsighted. That is why it isn't actually worth spending time with high aux for cloak detection in a cruiser/escort. The actual numbers aren't important, simply the fact that the detection range for non-science ships is pathetically small to begin with. Aux power multiplies detection range by some factor, it doesn't add an extra XX meters of detection per unit of aux power.

Thanks for the answer Fox. I only asked because I play Klingon almost exclusively and rarely look on the fed forums. I basically stumbled upon this thread because of a mis-click of my mouse. However as a sci captain I found this thread quite useful for my main.
